Västgötaspets (Swedish Vallhunds) are a fairly healthy breed and most breeders, including ourselves, do their utmost to ensure that the puppies they breed are as free from hereditary defects and diseases as it is humanly possible to do so. We aim to breed puppies that are of a good type and fit to the standard for the breed, including excellent temperament and soundness thereby ensuring that they are considered to be fit for function as a working farm dog herding cows and other farm animals.
All our breeding stock is health tested before being bred from for the following:
X-rayed and scored under the Hip Dysplasia Scheme
Eye Tested for signs of any abnormalities and inherited diseases where they can be identified
We breed in accordance with the Rules and recommendations of the Raad van Beheer and the Dutch Breed Club VVN (Västgötaspets Vereniging Nederland)
